We understand that travel plans can change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:
• Booking Deposit: 25% of the rental amount is required to confirm your booking.
• Cancellation within 7 days of booking 25% of rental amount will be retained. 

Travel in Africa can come with unexpected challenges. Here’s what to know:
• If a rental motorcycle or vehicle is involved in an accident or stolen, no refund will be provided for early termination of the contract.
• If a replacement vehicle is available, a new rental contract will apply. You are responsible for recovering the damaged vehicle to the original depot, and delivery costs for a replacement vehicle will be charged to you.
• No refunds will be given for lost rental days while a replacement is being delivered, and if no replacement is available, no refund will be considered.

The official currency is the South African Rand (ZAR). While you don’t need to exchange all your US dollars, it’s a good idea to exchange a small amount (around $200) for personal purchases. You can exchange money at the airport or banks, and major credit cards like VISA, Mastercard, and American Express are widely accepted in South Africa.

Riders must have a valid South African or international motorcycle license for the class of bike rented. Riders must be at least 25 years old, though special requests can be made for younger riders by contacting us.

Any trips beyond South Africa’s borders need prior approval from Go Bos ZA and will incur additional excess liability.

Once we confirm your chosen model is available, we guarantee you will ride it. If a technical issue arises and the model is unavailable, we’ll offer you a higher-end model at no extra cost. If the original model becomes available due to cancellation, we will honour your initial request.

You are responsible for any traffic fines incurred during your rental. Fines received after your rental will be settled by Go Bos ZA and charged to your credit card with an additional handling fee of R250 per fine.

Southern Africa is generally warm, but full rider gear is recommended. We suggest bringing your own gear, though we do have a limited number of helmets, gloves, and jackets available upon request.

Casual clothing is acceptable in most venues. In summer, shorts and t-shirts are ideal, while in winter, jeans and a light jacket or pullover are recommended.

In case of a fall or collision, you must complete an Insurance Claim Form. We follow a strict replacement policy for any damaged parts, regardless of how minor. All accidents must be reported to local police, and a case number obtained. Replacement parts will be charged at current retail prices plus labor, along with an administration fee of R350 per claim.

BMW Roadside Assistance is available for breakdowns in South Africa. For assistance outside of South Africa or additional help, contact Go Bos ZA at +27 661416446. Any repair or repatriation costs not covered by BMW SA will be your responsibility.

In case of a flat tire or puncture, the renter is responsible for repairs. We can assist in locating the nearest dealer for help.

All BMW models require unleaded 95 octane fuel. Please return the motorcycle with a full tank; otherwise, a fee of R150 plus fuel costs will apply. Oil top-up (20W50) is your responsibility, and engine failure due to low oil will be considered negligence.

Fuel costs range between R20 and R24 per liter.

Vehicle insurance is included in our rates, but a deposit is required for each rental. Cross-border rentals will require a higher deposit, and panniers or accessories will also attract an additional deposit. Insurance does not cover personal travel insurance, so we recommend securing personal coverage as well.

The renter will be fully liable for damages in the following circumstances:

• Water damage or submersion (including saltwater)
• Willful damage due to negligence, including:
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Driving in restricted areas
  • Damage due to misuse of the clutch or gearbox
  • Engine failure due to low oil levels

We strongly recommend you obtain medical insurance coverage for your trip. Consult your provider for options available in Southern Africa.

South Africa generally poses minimal health risks, but it’s wise to consult your physician 4 to 6 weeks before your trip. A tetanus booster and Hepatitis A vaccine are recommended.

Southern Africa’s weather is generally warm, with hot summers (mid-30s Celsius) and mild winters. Rain is common in coastal areas and the interior sees brief thunderstorms. For up-to-date forecasts, visit www.weathersa.co.za.

Southern Africa offers a range of accommodation from budget to luxury hotels, bed and breakfasts, guesthouses, and nature reserve lodges for an “African Experience.”

Most cell phones (2G, 3G, 4G, or 5G) will work in South Africa’s major towns and cities. Free WiFi is available at many restaurants, although coverage may be limited in rural areas.
